The AWAKE movement grew out of the inspiration and call to leadership felt by young people whose lives have been transformed by the work of Her Holiness Sai Maa Lakshmi Devi. Sai Maa is a Master of radical transformation and an embodiment of compassion, love and joy. Sai Maa’s work respects all traditions and religions, honoring all paths that lead to the experience of the divine. As a Master of enlightenment and a practical mystic, Sai Maa not only speaks to the great freedom and joy that is inherent within each one of us, She also offers the tangible experience of a life lived as that.

Sai Maa’s teaching style is unconventional, refreshingly direct, intimate, candid and powerful. With the extraordinary capacity to communicate profound universal wisdom in a simple, fun and down-to-earth manner, Sai Maa reveals to us how through awareness, choice and focus we can realize the Truth of who we are.

Sai Maa is particularly dedicated to serving the younger generation as She recognizes the essential role we have to play in the awakening of humanity. Sai Maa often speaks to the younger people as the “inheritors of the planet” or the “custodians of the golden age”. Many young people have found that in working with Sai Maa, they are receiving the empowerment, guidance, and unconditional love that assists them in embodying a strength, maturity, confidence and joy they never imagined possible.

Sai Maa is a constant example for AWAKE of what it means to create a community in which all beliefs, practices, backgrounds, cultures, races and life paths are not only accepted but are celebrated in a spirit of unity, love and understanding. From this vision we invite all young people who truly wish to know themselves to be apart of our movement regardless of what path they choose.

The following words were expressed by Sai Maa to a group of young people on a conference call during AWAKE’s annual Awakening Souls Retreat:

“This is your time, this is your opportunity to re-invent you, please hear this word “reinvention of self”. Hear that with your whole being. Drop everything that is making you live in pain and suffering, be anew, re-invent, re-create yourself, give yourself a chance to be the dream that you always dreamt about you. Through that re-creating yourself, re-inventing yourself, a new “you” will emerge out of that, the “you” you have always wished to be, the dream that you have wished to create, to manifest, that “you” of highest potential, the “you” of choicest blessings. Remember whomever you have admiration for, you have this potential within you.”

“You are building the golden era, you are building an era where all souls are being enlightened, you are building that. And when you build that, there is such empowerment, such Shakti, such freedom. What is Shakti? It is the power of Creation. When you are free of this human love, human dependency, human addiction. When you are free of that, you are into the Light, you are into pure Divine Life, you are into highest potential with Divine Love.”
